SCASD INTRAMURAL KAYAKING PROGRAM Basic Rules for Participation

There are a few rules that you need to follow to make paddling fun for everyone:

• Please be considerate.   Listen when the coaches or other paddlers are talking.
• All paddlers must help unload and load equipment.
• Be careful with all equipment.   The gear we are using is very expensive.
• Be aware of where your paddle is; getting hit with a paddle really hurts!
• Please empty your boat and have it ready for the next paddler.
• Do not attempt to swim while others paddle.
• Laugh with others not at them.   Please be aware that when you mess up it will probably look just as funny.   Laugh at yourself.
• Do not litter.   Please pick up any trash you find, even if it is not yours.
• A properly fitting, properly fastened PFD must be worn at all times on the water.
• Paddlers must wear a helmet on the creek.
• Do not pull on the hanging gates.
• Use whistles appropriately.   Whistles are for signaling emergencies only.
